DSL Modems

Before You Begin

Verify that your package contains the following:

1) Hotwire 6130 DSL Modem
2) AC Adapter
3) Red Ethernet Crossover Cable (RJ-45 connectors)
4) Gray Phone Cable (RJ-11 connectors)
5) MVL Phone Filter

Installing the DSL Modem

Place the DSL modem on a flat surface with clearance for the rear connectors

1) If a telephone set is installed, unplug the telephone line from the RJ-11 wall jack.

2) Use the supplied gray phone cable (RJ-11) for the DSL line connection. Insert one end of the cable into the jack labeled "LINE". Insert the other end of the cable into the RJ-11 wall jack.

3) Connect a telephone set (this step is optional - go to step 5 if you are not connecting a telephone set to the DSL modem). Plug the MVL phone filter into the jack labeled "PHONE".

4) Plug the existing telephone cable that was unplugged in Step 1 into the jack of the MVL phone filter.

5) Use the supplied red ethernet crossover cable and connect one end to the ethernet card of you PC and the other end in the DSL modem in the jack labeled "ETHERNET".

6) Insert the supplied AC adapter's round end into the jack labeled POWER. Plug the transformer into the AC outlet.

The DSL modem hardware installation is now complete. When the power cord is installed, the DSL modem goes through a power-on self-test.
