Art Students League
The Art Students League organizes students interested in art for the purpose of discussion, competition and learning. The League also attempts to help all members of the University community and the greater public experience the power of art by sponsoring visiting artists and exhibits of faculty and student art. Students interested in joining the Art Students League should contact the League president or Ms. Andrea Wheless (Fine Arts 10, 841-9282), chair of Department of Fine Arts.
Cultural Enrichment Series
Students who attend a designated number of cultural events each semester will receive one academic credit on a credit/no credit basis with a maximum of two credits applicable toward graduation. Events include convocations; performances by the Tower Players, The University Instrumental Ensemble, and The University Singers; lectures; and visiting artists. Ordinarily, the annual series also includes events sponsored by the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival and the High Point Community Concerts Association. Genesis
A Gospel choir composed of students at High Point University sings periodically in the Hayworth Chapel and at other special occasions both on- and off-campus. The conductor is the Reverend Mr. James Brown.
The Hayworth Chapel Choir
Members of The Hayworth Chapel Choir are selected by audition to perform during services in Hayworth Chapel. As a result of the generosity of the The Charles E. and Pauline L. Hayworth Foundation, members of The Hayworth Chapel Choir may qualify for chapel choral scholarships. For information, contact Dr. Billy Summers (841-4612) in Hayworth Fine Arts Center 107.
The High Point University Cabaret
The High Point University Cabaret is a select group of choral performers chosen primarily from students who study voice at High Point university. If you are interested, you should contact the advisor, Dr. Alexa Schlimmer (841-9120) in Hayworth Fine Arts Center 109.
The High Point University Wind Ensemble
The High Point University Wind Ensemble performs for campus events and ordinarily presents at least one concert each semester. If you would like to play with the Wind Ensemble, please contact Dr. Billy Summers (841-4612) in Hayworth Fine Arts Center 107.
The Tower Players
Tower Players is High Point University's organization for anyone with any interest in all aspects of Theatre: performance, technical, volunteering, or attending productions on and off campus. Tower Players is popular among HPU's theatre majors but encourages non-majors to come and support their interest in theatre! The University Singers
The University Singers perform for campus events and present choral concerts for members of the University community and the general public periodically.
