American Chemical Society
The American Chemical Society Students Affiliates chapter at High Point University acts as an extension of the larger professional organization. The club meets monthly to satisfy the objectives that are stated in our constitution.
- To provide activities related to chemistry, the other sciences, and mathematics.
- To promote professional activities and interest related to science and mathematics.
- To provide leadership opportunities to students of science.
The American Chemical Society is centered around professional development. The club sponsors various speakers from local industries to discuss opportunities for students of the sciences. We also take field trips to local chemical companies to allow our members to see what will lie ahead for them.
Beyond professional development, the club functions as any social club. It has annual field trips to Washington, D.C. to see the Smithsonian Institute and other local science centers. If you have any questions stop by and see Dr. Wid Painter his office is Hayworth Hall 212.
American Humanics
High Point University is one of the paucity of schools within the United States offering American Humanics, a co-curricular program designed to facilitate the entry of graduates into careers involving youth and human services, such as the human service agencies, the Red Cross, Scouting, the YMCA/YWCA, and the United Way. The advisor is Dr. David Bergen (841-4586).

Biology Majors Club
The Biology Majors Club's purpose is to provide High Point University students with an exciting and innovative way of looking at biology. Our club is comprised of mostly biology majors, but we welcome anyone who would like to participate. We elect officers at the beginning of each school year.
Our activities include monthly meetings, regular yearly events, and occasional outings (field trips). Monthly meetings are held to discuss various topics and to allow students, professors, and distinguished guests to come and speak about any topic that is concerned with or related to biology. Our annual events include a visit to a rest-home, shelter, or hospital to spread a little Christmas cheer; a Christmas party at an off campus location; a trip to Bowman Gray gross anatomy lab; and a picnic/softball event with the Chemistry club. Some of our sporadic field trips include research symposiums, trips to the zoo, trips to planetarium, and nature events like hiking and regional clean-ups.
