Tutor Training
Tutor Training is required of all tutors per College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Certification requirements. Training consists of lectures, case studies, discussion, guest speakers, role plays, and activities. ASC staff conducts Level I & III training in the fall semester and Level I & II training in the spring semester.
Training in the Park
Once a year, everyone involved in ASC goes off-campus for a one-day intensive training at City Lake Park in Jamestown. As a group we discuss major components of CRLA tutor training, participate in content-based activities and role plays as well as team building and motivational activities. Training in the Park counts as four hours toward CRLA certification, and everyone has a great time! ASC Office Assistants also participate in activities with the group as well as their own mini-training regarding office policies and procedures. The 10th annual ASC Training in the Park will be held on September 3, 2010.
Spring 2008 Training Schedule
Level I Training takes place in the lower level of Smith Library on Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. Training begins on January 18.
Level II training takes place on TBA. Check with Craig Curty for specific times and meeting places.
